I was flipping through my journal of favorite poems last night and I reread this one for the hundredth time, and it still made me smile. It's called, "The Coin" by Sarah Teasdale. If you've never heard of Sarah Teasdale, you should definitely read some of her work. Her poems are beautiful, and they always tug at my heart. Most of the poems in my journal belong to her.
The Coin
by Sarah Teasdale
Into my hearts treasury
I slipped a coin
That time cannot take
Nor a thief purloin,--
Oh better than the minting
Of a gold-crowned king
Is the safe-kept memory
Of a lovely thing.
